Wilson, a new runner, in the Mountain running events has won the Lotto Cross in Belgium in 2002 and 2003.

He has also won the Dirkic Euro Cross country in Luxemburg and Trier Silvestre 8 km in Germany.

Wilson is training and plans to run the Africa Mountain Running Championships in Obudu, Nigeria. H e is also planning on an European road racing season.

His future goal is to be the World Champion in road and mountain races.

Nadeem Khan (NK): What were your thoughts on running in the Commonwealth Championships?

Wilson Chemweno (WC): Success in running is not always about time and distance.

 

NK: How was this race different from your other international races?

WC: I used to run on a flat tarmac road,but this was different because it was hilly and steep foot path.

 

NK: The one thing that you will remember about these Championships…

WC: I remember this Championships because I become a Double Commonwealth Mountain Running Champion.

NK: What is your typical training week?

WC: Monday, Thursday- Long runs of 1hr30mins hard.

         Tuesday, Friday-Fartlek or speed works on the track.

         Wednesday, Saturday-Long runs of 1hr10mins easy

 

NK: If you were not a runner, you would be…

WC: A farmer.
